Director Sites Going, Going…
February 22nd, 2010
It was pointed out on Direct-L forums that another Director site has vanished from the web. The site titled Animation Math in Lingo by JM Harward now has an expired URL (http://www.jmckell.com/). Having sites go away is never good. You can still see an old version of the site on the Internet Archive.
In the meantime, I continue to hope that a version of Shockwave that runs on a Mac (without having to flip my bits) shows up one of these days. Please…pretty please.

That revision actually came out on January 19th, 2010. I got confused about that one as well when 3 computers in our office all prompted users for updates on the same day last week.

An idea: all director-related websites (you know, don’t you?) should tie together and shut down. Maybe all could put up a home page claiming the absence of a clear roadmap from Adobeā¦ a kind of a web-strike. The (now small) community is part of the product and without a community and all the invaluable online resources Director will finally die. A final love act of the last loyal users.

Andreas, I’ve certainly thought about this already when I announced the end of my support of Adobe Director a while back.
But finally I didn’t do it because this step wouldn’t hurt the Director team at Adobe at all. But it might hit the remaining community very hard. And I don’t think the community deserves this kind of additional frustration.
Everybody in the community can see what’s (not) going on and get a picture of how much sense it makes to keep on using Director. We don’t need to shut down the remaining resources to warn, draw attention or strike, imho.

Just revived the site in hope to provide a continuation of what was started. Any thoughts? Slowly bringing back the content online as we piece it together.
